In this Kingdom Advisors Study Group, we hear from Dr. Amy Sherman, author of Kingdom Calling, a book that explores the idea of vocational stewardship for the common good. Dr. Sherman’s research and study has given her access to many stories of people who are using their workplace as a way to advance Kingdom purposes. As Kingdom Advisors, you are uniquely positioned to speak into clients’ lives about how their work can serve as platforms for renewal in their community and in the world at large. By understanding the various dimensions of vocational power and by knowing how to frame this conversation with both Christian and non-Christian clients, you will be equipped to cast a vision for embracing business as mission. In this Study Group, Dr. Sherman broadens our understanding of vocational stewardship and equips us to confidently discuss this topic with our clients.
Dr. Amy Sherman is the author of five books (including Restorers of Hope and Kingdom Calling) and numerous “how-to” ministry manuals, and scores of articles for various publications. She frequently speaks to gatherings of Christian community ministry practitioners or public policy leaders. Dr. Sherman conducted the groundbreaking study of more than 7,400 Christian women, published in the Women Doing Well report, Directions in Women’s Giving, which has helped to launch a movement among Christian women who desire to steward their resources in light of God’s generous heart.
